Disclaimer: IT’S NOT MINE!!! GAH! Please don’t sue me, you crazy Japanese people. And Carly. And fangirls/boys. Just don’t think that I am claiming this as my movie or series, because it is owned by…some Japanese developer of somewhere. Ok?
Ok. So I started the Fullmetal Alchemist series this past September. I really, really enjoyed it. I finished it around, oh, I want to say December. I happened to meet a whole bunch of friends who like FMA (Fullmetal Alchemist, abbreviated.) at my school. This happened around September too. So a couple of said FMA friends told me about the FMA movie that was supposed to be the end of the series. Well, I finally watched it… And got a very mixed reaction.
I’m not going to do a full review, but I need to rant about this. Let me say that it was a terrific movie, the art was awesome and the sound was great (both vocal, music, and sound effects), the storyline was jaw-dropping…but the ending? It was a very dissatisfying ending.
I know that anime almost always has a bittersweet ending (a la Death Note or DN Angel), but jeez…That was just depressing. Poor Heidrich… Also, what happened to Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye? We are left with no information on them in the end. (sorry if I’m spoiling, just open eyes and apply pepperspray before reading on)
Also, Izumi-sensei seemingly died off-season (bad move, people. I’ll have my revenge!). Can somebody tell me how that is helpful? It was sweet, though, when Wrath finally joins with his mom again… (though there is some major fanservice while re-uniting) There were a good amount of loose ends here, but at least the ending was at least moderately satisfying.
Okay, so I may be criticizing a little too much. It was great, but they could have drawn everything together a little better. Any opinions about FMA? Leave a comment, I’ll hit ya back.

Would love to watch the movie. Thing is, I havent watch the FMA tv series, would it affect the movie experience?
Um, not really. Some parts would be a little confusing, but for the most part you would be able to follow it. It will ruin some things if you ever want to start the series, however.
@laine-emon: if you read the wikipedia article you’ll be good to go. I was. ^_^
@al: comments? I say we get a petition for a post-movie season, because the Elrics (and everyone else, for that matter) deserve a better ending than that. I mean, come on? WTF happened to equivalent exchange?! They’ve given up so much, it’s waaaaay past time they get something back in return. And why drop a bridge on Izumei? And why in the world would you kill off one of the best characters for no other reason than to make the fangirls cry? (Me? Angsting about Heidrich? Why would you say that?)
Grrrr… I hope the manga has a more satisfying ending, since the plotline splits away from the anime. *end rant*
Nice new header, BTW… I still owe you one, don’t I? Crapcakes.
