Relative characters-Matching up

Ok, this page will be centered on me matching up characters from books/movies/anime with my close circle of friends. You won’t get a huge section, but at least a paragraph. This is kinda my blog…so I will have a long(ish) description for my relation to Izumi from FMA. Yes…

The thing that people get confused about Izumi-sensei (or “teacher” in English) is that she’s mad all the time. But you will notice that when she is mad, she is mad for a reason. The whole story of Fullmetal Alchemist follows Edward and Alphonse who are always doing exactly what she tells them not to do. Of course she has a reason to get mad, they’re the only thing close to children that she has! Well…without spoiling a lot, they are the closest emotionally. She wants the best for her students, and they never listen. And only then does she lay the smack down. In one of  the first episodes you get to meet her, she smacks the heck out of the brothers, but then hugs them and tells them everything will be alright. This may sound bipolar, but how else will they get discipline and motherly affection? Always on the run, it’s impossible to keep check on yourselves.

The thing that actually relates Izumi to me is the protection. You will not mess with those we love. Of course, I don’t have alchemy, but I can do most of the manuevers she does in the show. (don’t belive me? Just ask Townsend :p) Not saying I memorize or anything…I just have martial arts experience. She also will never let her rage take her too far, but the limit is set high. Don’t ever make either of us mad. (why am I saying us? Well…I want to make sure you know I’m contrasting us and not differing) We will make you know we are angry. If we tell you to do something or not do something, particularly in benefit to you and you ignore it…that will set us off. We’re trying to make things easier and safer because we care a lot, and blatant disrespect will be challenged.

We both care extremely for a cause. That is why ground rules must be set and kept. Once a plan is under way, it should not change unless absolutely necessary. Caring also comes so naturally to us, it’s incredibly painful to see others hurt. So I guess empathy would be another trait shared. We are serious when it counts, and laid back when we can be.
